Grand Haven Mens Golf Assoc.

My wife (Pam) and I joined Grand Haven in December 2024. Joining this club gave us the personal and community connection that was missing since we bought our little slice of heaven at Cinnamon Beach back in 2019. It was also my little reward for completing a fulfilling career full of twist and turns. How we got to Palm Coast has its roots from the 70’s and long before I ever met Pam. Her dad purchased a parcel of land in Palm Coast with the hopes of one day building a dream home in FL. Oddly enough the land is still owned by their family, but my father-in-law’s plans never materialized. Purchasing our place on a beautiful beach and joining this club were bucket list items that we both dreamed about. Married for thirty five years, our journey together has been nothing short of incredible. We raised two great kids and both are married now. With 5 grandkids and one more on the way, our life is more than full in so many ways. It’s also why the Chicagoland area continues to be our primary residence and call our home. Being Lolo and Lola (grandpa and grandma in the Philippines) is a gift that we embrace every single day. When we’re not with the grandkids or hanging out in Florida, we love seeing the rest of the world and how other people live.We both had solid careers that rewarded us with lives that most parents dreamed of for their kids. Pam was a CPA and had some great stops along the way. I spent my first 10 years in the hospitality industry and the last 25 years insurance consulting. Hard work, planning, and a little bit of luck led to an early retirement.My passion project the last three years is my role as Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I’m on campus only on the fall term but this experience has been incredibly rewarding. Returning to teach and give back to the next generation at my alma mater was a full circle moment. It’s a goal I’m proud to have realized.Pam and I are grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received from the entire Grand Haven community. It took us a couple of years to find it, but just like Chicago, we feel right at home.
